David Allen is the principal of Trestle, specializing in the acquisition, financing and development of multifamily properties. He has extensive experience in underwriting and project management, and has worked in for-profit, nonprofit and public sectors.
Prior to founding his own development consulting company in 2013, David was a development director for Housing Development Partners (HDP), the nonprofit affiliate of the San Diego Housing Commission. In his role, he managed all stages of the housing development process, including negotiating transactions, securing entitlements, financing and overseeing construction. While at HDP, he managed the development of nearly 200 affordable multifamily housing units with total development costs of more than $40 million.
David began his career in multifamily housing in 2006 as a project manager in the Seattle office of Vitus Group, a national leader in affordable housing finance and development.
Originally from Spokane, Washington, David now resides in San Diego with his wife, Emily, and their daughter, Reese. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Western Washington University. Connect with David.
Zaheen joined Trestle Development in 2015 as a Project Manager, specifically to work on innovative new projects that promote sustainability, affordability and urbanism. He is currently the Project Manager for Nook on Valdez, Oakland’s first micro apartment development.
Zaheen got hooked on development as a volunteer with Mercy Housing, working on the revitalization of Sunnydale, San Francisco’s largest public housing site. He continued his career at BRIDGE Housing Corporation and subsequently Chelsea Investment Corporation, where he worked on affordable housing projects utilizing local, state and federal financing. Zaheen earned a BA in Politics from UC Santa Cruz and a Master of Urban Planning from San Jose State University, where he focused on Community Design and Development. Connect with Zaheen.
